On October 24, 2018 the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities was signed into law by President Trump. Subtitle D, Ensuring Access to Quality Sober Living (SEC. 7031), of this law mandates that the Secretary of Health and Human Services, in consultation with other specified individual stakeholders and entities, shall identify or facilitate the development of best practices for operating recovery housing.
